Just dipping in here to confirm something quickly: Padparadscha is planning to approach some of the science-y sorts (preferably geologists since they've probably figured out rocks get studied here...) regarding some kind of replacement for their powder or resin that they use to cover their surface. Essentially, they want something they can use as a surface "skin" layer that won't just wash off in water, but also won't damage the stone that makes them up, otherwise they're just going to look like a big ol' rock if their white powder ever washes off. Alternately, they'd like something that can preserve their powder layer since they don't have resin here.
Would this be plausible to have the scientists create in a reasonably short period of time? It's not a "vital to the character functioning" sort of seriousness, but it might make things a bit weird for them if their powder disappears and will likely become an issue if there's any underwater-y plots or heavy rainy weather.
