DECLINE

Thank you for your interest in Khu Ioduan! After careful review and discussion of your application, we regret to inform you that your application does not presently meet the standards of the game.

As of right now we do not feel as though the app or the TDM sample demonstrates a strong grasp of Thanos's character. There are a number of contradictions between canon, the app, and the sample, as well as a number of concerns that come up from the suitability section.

While you made it clear that you would be drawing on some of Thanos's traits from the comics to fill in the blanks of MCU!Thanos, the issue arises with their motivations being so wildly different. Comics!Thanos motives are unquestionably selfish while in the film he, debatably, is working for some greater good and considers his actions a necessary evil. His motivations in MCU, as we understand them, do not have a foundation in spontaneity. Where these contradictions arise (even exclusively within MCU!Thanos' personality), we would prefer to see them noted and/or see explanation for how he justifies those contradictions, even if this requires some headcanon based in his other behavior.

We also would like to have seen reflections on Thanos' treatment of others, particularly his adopted children, and whether he feels anything other than the certainty of being righteous in his path. Does he ever falter when it comes to hurting children like Nebula, or in his long mission? What happens to him when he kills Gamora to gain the Soul Stone, and what effect did seeing her inside the Stone at the end of the film have on him? In fact, many of Thanos's worst traits largely read as an afterthought as they are only lightly brushed over in the last paragraph. The TDM thread shows some indication of his arrogance but it's not explicitly brought up or expanded on in the personality section of the app.

There are a number of other things we'd like to see elaborated. Why does he have absurd expectations of those in his own ranks? How does he balance his joy for people living their lives once he's culled half the population with terrifying the remaining population into submission? How does he consider this benevolent, even if it's rational?

To summarize, we need more expansion on his personality, and consistency of character description as well as depiction. We'd prefer to see headcanon to fill in the blanks rather than trying to shoehorn in traits from a version of this character with completely different motivations because they really do not gel.

If you wish to correct these identified issues and resubmit, you are welcome to, but such an application will be handled as brand new and subject to a complete re-review.
