Where does recolle fall on this line? It's a memloss/regain game, so you write an 'AU' that the character thinks is their real life but then.... well, they remember their canon basically and the implication is the AU was mostly never real.
ETA: if it's relevant: my character had some major memories regained already, but not all of them! I'd be happy with either force regaining them all in the transition, or continuing to 'remember' bit by bit during a set period of time in game so it's less... intense. They were aware by that point that their 'life' was probably not real, even if that was hard to swallow, and the memories were. Mostly it's the CRAU I'm after + the coherence of magic/a modern setting that the fake-AU + game time gave them.
But obviously I do get that it's a weird loophole situation.
